A new online T’ai Chi course for total beginners began in January 2026 and recordings are available of each week’s lesson. You can read more about the course and subscribe here. T’ai Chi is best learned in person but for some of us that is just not always possible. The beauty of online is its accessibility and inclusiveness, especially for carers, those who are house-bound, those with responsibilities or disabilities, all are equally able to attend, unlike in-person classes.
I greatly look forward to seeing you at class. All are welcome, you do not need any experience whatsoever to join. You need never have done T’ai Chi as I will introduce all the principles, methods and movements one by one, allowing plenty of time for questions and practice. I will also provide hand out sheets or online lists with steps, movements and postures as well as other relevant background materials, links and videos, as and when appropriate. Every hour-long class will be recorded but there will also be a chance to hang out after class, unrecorded, for those who have observations or broader questions, not covered in class.
Class links are sent at noon on Monday, before each session. So, get out your loose comfortable clothing, your slippers or thick socks and clear away your furniture. You’ll need the minimum space of enough room to swing your arms out around you as wide as they go without hitting anything, in all directions. As a guide, you can manage a Short Form with adjustment steps in the space taken up by a double bed but a bit more space is better.
Class dates so far will be: every Monday at 4pm UK time from January 2026 and all the way until Christmas 2026. If there are still 8 regular students at that point, I will be happy to continue teaching indefinitely. It may be that occasionally I will be away and unable to Zoom from my location, but that should be a minimum of dates in the year, equivalent to any normal UK holiday allowance.
